Latelight - Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Latelight iOS app, published by ByteVoid SASU ("we", "our", "us"). By using Latelight, you agree to these terms.

What Latelight is

Latelight is a self-reflection tool. You answer questions about a person in your life. Latelight writes back a portrait of the relationship dynamic in your own words and helps you think through situations as they come up. The Portraits and suggestions are produced by AI based on what you share.

You are interacting with an AI system, not a human. Latelight's questions, replies, and Portraits are all generated by artificial intelligence.

Latelight is for users 17 years of age and older.

Disclaimers

Latelight is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Not a medical or therapeutic service

Latelight is a self-reflection tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical, psychological, or psychiatric condition. The Portraits and suggestions generated by Latelight are produced by artificial intelligence based on user-supplied information and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your specific situation. Latelight is not a substitute for therapy, counseling, medical care, or any form of professional mental health support.

You are responsible for your own decisions

You make your own choices about your relationships and your well-being. Latelight provides written reflections. How you act on them is up to you. We do not advise you to take any specific action.

AI-generated content

Outputs from Latelight are generated by large language models and may contain errors, biases, or content that does not reflect your actual situation. Treat all generated content as one perspective among many.

Crisis situations

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, considering harm to yourself or others, or in an unsafe situation, please contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline immediately. Resources include 988 (United States), Samaritans 116 123 (United Kingdom), 3114 (France), Lifeline 13 11 14 (Australia), or findahelpline.com for other countries.

Acceptable Use

By using Latelight, you agree to use it only for personal self-reflection about your own relationships. The following uses are prohibited:

  • Harm planning. Do not use Latelight to plan, threaten, attempt, or facilitate harm to yourself, another person, or property. This includes physical harm, financial harm, reputational harm, and digital harm.
  • Harassment, stalking, or surveillance. Do not use Latelight to track, monitor, or build profiles of people without their informed consent.
  • Manipulation tactics. Do not use Latelight to develop coercive, gaslighting, or deceptive communication strategies. Latelight is built to help you understand a relationship, not to weaponize that understanding.
  • Privacy violations. Do not share another person's private information (medical, financial, sexual, immigration status, or other sensitive categories) through Latelight without their informed consent.
  • Substitute for emergencies. Do not use Latelight as a substitute for emergency services, crisis support, or professional medical care.
  • Illegal use. Do not use Latelight to plan, commit, or assist any illegal activity.
  • Reverse engineering or scraping. Do not attempt to extract Latelight's prompts, models, or implementation details for competitive purposes.

Consequences of violation. If we detect or are notified of a violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, we may suspend or terminate your access to Latelight immediately and without refund. Severe violations may be reported to law enforcement.

Reporting. If you believe Latelight is being used in a way that violates this policy, or if you receive a response from the AI that is harmful, dangerous, or otherwise inappropriate, please email [email protected].

Subscription

Latelight offers an auto-renewing subscription with two options: monthly at $14.99 and yearly at $99 (pricing may vary by region per Apple's local pricing matrix). The yearly plan is offered at a discount relative to the monthly plan.

  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period.
  • Managing or canceling. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on iOS, or the Manage Subscription link in Latelight's Settings).
  • Refunds. Refund requests are processed by Apple. Contact Apple Support to request a refund.
  • Free features. The core conversation features are available without subscription, subject to daily limits.

Your content

Anything you write in Latelight belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your messages, Portraits, or any content you create in the app. Because your content is encrypted and stored on your device, we do not have access to it.

If you write about another person in Latelight, you are responsible for being thoughtful about what you share. See the Acceptable Use section above for limits.

Our content

The Latelight name, brand, app design, prompts, and Portrait generation method are the property of ByteVoid SASU. "ByteVoid" and "Latelight" are trademarks of ByteVoid SASU. You may not reproduce, distribute, or build a competing product based on these.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ByteVoid SASU and its representatives are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Latelight. Our total cumulative liability for any claim relating to Latelight is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to ByteVoid SASU in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred euros.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of liability for personal injury, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, in which case those limitations do not apply to the extent prohibited by law. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ByteVoid SASU from any claims arising from your misuse of Latelight, including using it in ways that violate these terms or applicable law.

Termination

You can stop using Latelight at any time by deleting the app, which removes all on-device data. We can terminate or suspend access to Latelight if you violate these terms, particularly the Acceptable Use Policy. Termination by us does not entitle you to a refund of a subscription period already paid.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Any disputes shall be brought before the competent courts of Paris, France, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence.

Consumer mediation

If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve a complaint directly, you have the right to refer the dispute free of charge to a consumer mediator (Code de la consommation, Art. L612-1). Before contacting the mediator, please first send your complaint to us at [email protected] so we have a chance to resolve it. If we do not reach an amicable agreement, or if we do not reply within a reasonable period of one (1) month, you may refer the dispute free of charge to the mediator listed by the Commission d'évaluation et de contrôle de la médiation de la consommation (Art. L612-2 and L615-1).

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced in the app on next launch. Continued use of Latelight after changes constitutes acceptance.

Your data is handled per the Latelight Privacy Policy.
